2024 Youth Auction generates over $15,000 to empower future dairy leaders

The 2024 Holstein Friesian NZ Black & White Youth Auction has raised a remarkable $15,575 for the Holstein Friesian NZ Black & White Youth programme.

This highly anticipated annual event took place live from Hobbiton in the central North Island last night as part of the 2024 Holstein Friesian NZ Conference. Also hosted live on bidr® the auction, skillfully led by PGG Wrightson auctioneer Jamie Cunninghame, featured 25 generously donated lots.

The diverse collection of items up for auction included gourmet food and fine wine, essential animal health products, state-of-the-art farm equipment, stylish clothing and premium bull semen, ensuring there was something to pique everyone’s interest.

Proceeds from the Youth Auction are dedicated to empowering young breeders by funding programmes and opportunities that enhance their skills and foster their growth within the dairy industry.

In 2023, a portion of the $17,000 raised that year supported the New Zealand team at the European Young Breeders School, showcasing Holstein Friesian NZ’s commitment to developing the next generation of dairy industry leaders.
