Awarded to the herd owners with the highest dollar earning herd average based on the Fonterra A+B-C payment system. Winners from each region receive a prize. Regions are divided by Holstein Friesian New Zealand Ward boundaries with Canterbury and West Coast (Ward 7) separated geographically.
- Ward 1: Northland
- Ward 2: Waikato
- Ward 3: Bay of Plenty
- Ward 4: Taranaki
- Ward 5: Hawke’s Bay / Manawatu / Wairarapa
- Ward 6: Nelson / Marlborough / Golden Bay
- Ward 7: Canterbury
- Ward 7: West Coast
- Ward 8: Otago / Southland
Automatic entry for all members of Holstein Friesian New Zealand who are herd owners and have herd tested four or more times in the previous season.
