The Black and White Youth Committee are seeking nominations of 2026 born heifers for the HFNZ Elite Heifer Raffle. Heifers must be elite, PF16 and DNA parent verified (or pending DNA verification) and born between 1 January – 15 September 2026. The Committee is after a range of high quality heifers: including show animals, high BW Holstein Friesians, and heifers from strong cow families.
The raffle is being run to raised funds to the 2027 European Young Breeders School team to Belgium.
How it works:
- Nominations close off on the 25 September 2026.
- The Black & White Youth Committee will meet in October 2026 to select six elite heifer calves to be offered as first prize for the raffle.
- HFNZ will promote the Elite Heifer Raffle, and tickets will be available to purchase between 7 December 2026 and 5 March 2027.
- The Elite Heifer Raffle will be drawn on 12 March 2027 at the HFNZ Offices, 23 Vialou Street, Hamilton and will be steamed live via social media to the membership.
- The winner of the raffle will get the choice of one the six heifers offered. The breeder of the chosen animal will receive $6,900 (including GST). Cash prizes of $300 for second and $150 for third will also be available.
