Holstein Friesian NZ is New Zealand’s largest dairy cattle breed society servicing members throughout the country. The organisation is a collection of member dairy farmers with an interest in farming and breeding the Holstein Friesian cow in New Zealand. With offices in Hamilton, we are looking to employ a Communications & Marketing Specialist to promote the Holstein Friesian breed to our membership and the wider NZ dairy industry.
The primary responsibility for this position will be the writing and providing content for our magazine three times per year along with a range of other publications. Liaison with the external media and providing press releases on topical issues will round out this role, as well as driving content management and digital marketing of our website, and social media pages.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and friendly with a sound knowledge of both the NZ dairy industry and publication/digital multimedia. Excellent writing and editorial skills are paramount and a key focus of the role including writing press releases, articles, and stories for publications. Some experience in the management of website and social media content would be an advantage, and you will have excellent time management skills with an ability to be organised and work to deadlines. A relevant tertiary qualification in journalism or marketing/communications is preferable along with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programmes, and a full driver’s licence. The right to work in New Zealand is also required.
The position is based from the Hamilton Office, and with flexible hours (around 30 – 32 hours) to be negotiated with the successful applicant. This position may suit a person looking to work school hours or returning to the workforce, or a graduate leaning more to a journalism type role (still with some communications and marketing) to gain valuable writing experience. Remuneration will be based on the experience of the successful applicant.
