2020 Black & White Youth Auction

Selling online is the new black during Covid-19 and our Black and White Youth Auction was no exception as this year as we used online platform bidr® to raise a fabulous $6,477.50 across our regions.

A huge thank you to all our sponsors and bidders who helped make the night a successful one and persevered through a few technological teething issues to get all the regions connected.

Branches held member dinners and social events though out the country, using Zoom to connect to the main event in the Waikato, at Stables on Alpha in Cambridge.

bidr® Product Manager Liam Beattie said it was the first time he had used the platform in conjunction with Zoom to connect multiple sites around the country.

Auctioneer Cam Heggie from PGG Wrightson was pitted against the bidr® platform at the Waikato dinner, and as the online bids rolled in faster than he could tally them he joked about bidr® eventually doing him out of a job.

The highest bid for the night of $700 was made on a lovely gift basket and 2.5 litres of Eprinex Pour-On, dedicated to our essential workers and sent in by the Southland Branch. John and Suzanne Young, Frontier Farms, Otorohanga, will be enjoying the handmade cheeses, chutney, fudge and a nice Central Otago Port.

Sponsors included; Boehringer Ingelheim, Allflex, DeLaval, CRV, LIC, Agrisea, Fibre Fresh, Animal Breeding Services, St Genetics NZ, Bell Booth, Hoof-it, Semex, World Wide Sires, GEA FIL, Taranaki Holsteins, Waikato Branch, Otago Branch, Manawatu Holstein Friesians, Milk Bar, Dairy Hoofcare Institute.
